The Absurdity of Party-Driven Anything
Systems, ideas, and philosophies that work and are beneficial to humanity are often replicated in many different places and environments. I think healthcare, sports, and Servant Leadership are some of the most accessible examples of this dynamic. Conversely, systems, ideas, and philosophies that are not successful and beneficial to humanity are not implemented and replicated in different environments. This is why the immensely broken, flawed, corrupt, divisive, hate-filled, fear-based, and increasingly authoritarian party-driven system and philosophy ONLY exists in our political system.
There are theoretical and practical innovations that happen in healthcare all the time. The healthcare ideas, techniques, and practices that are proven successful are often replicated across many different departments and hospitals. Similarly, when any sports team finds success, all of the other teams in that league and possibly other teams in other sports try to investigate what philosophies, ideas, expertise, and structures helped them succeed. We then see “copycat” structures, methods, and philosophies from other teams and leagues. Similarly, the leadership philosophy of Servant Leadership is well known to be very successful and diversely applicable in the city of La Crosse, Wisconsin. Thus this leadership style has been adopted by universities, car dealerships, grocery stores, and many other non-profits and for-profits around town.
Good ideas, systems, and philosophies get adopted, replicated, copied, and transferred to other institutions and environments all the time. It is truly a beautiful part of human existence how we share the knowledge of success between different industries, environments, and institutions.
However, NO OTHER industry, environment, or institution uses a divisive, negative, and fear-based party-driven system. This is because party-driven systems are antithetical to and directly oppose cooperation, collaboration, listening, honesty, transparency, accountability, and other values that are so important to group, collective, and institutional success.
In NO OTHER industry, environment, or institution are members divided into parties, given a clear mission, and then advised to complete their mission while ALSO hating, disagreeing with, and fighting with people that are not in their party.
The mission for any democratic republic political system at any level of government is always the same. This mission has never changed. In theory, all democratic republics at all levels of government are perpetually, eternally tasked with learning and implementing the Will of the People. Democratic republics that consistently learn the real Will of the People in an open, honest, objective, and transparent way and implement this collective will are successful. Democratic republics that do NOT implement the Will of the People for every single issue are undeniably authoritarian and NOT successful. It really is that simple. But this basic goal to learn and implement the Will of the People and to avoid authoritarian political decisions, actions, and inactions is infinitely complicated, broken, and made impossible by a divisive, fear-based, and negative party-driven system.
Political parties in the modern, Digital Age serve no beneficial purpose to the goal of democratic republics, which is to learn and implement the real Will of the People for every single issue.
Imagine if the horrific party-driven system was implemented ANYWHERE else. The workplace, environment, or institution would collapse or fail in a few weeks, if not a few days. Think of any successful group you are a part of. Now divide that group into two parties: Party 1 and Party 2 (or Party Red and Party Blue, if you prefer). Now that group has the same mission as it did before dividing into parties- to win games, to produce goods, to provide services etc.- but now, in addition to this mission everyone in Party 1 has to fight with and disagree with everyone in Party 2 and vice-versa. Nothing would work well. No group would find consistent success. Everything would be stressful. Party-driven systems just DO NOT work.
Other workplaces, industries, and environments are successful because they lean into and harness humanity’s intrinsic, beautiful ability to be collaborative, cooperative, inclusive, positive, and transparent.
The divisiveness, tension, argumentativeness, and hatred of a party driven system is antithetical to all types of group success. Conversely, as healthcare, sports, and the success of Servant Leadership has demonstrated, the keys to group success are based in cooperation, collaboration, listening, discussion, knowledge seeking, wisdom, empathy, and teamwork.
This is why we must modernize and evolve our democratic republics away from the divisive, negative, broken, corrupt, and increasingly authoritarian party-driven system from the 1800’s in favor of advanced, online, transparent, honest, cooperative, and collaborative Voter Directed democratic republics at all levels of government.
Thank you.
