The Layers of the Party Driven Political System and Oppressed Voter Mindset

This essay will address the following questions: what is the Oppressed Voter Mindset (OVM) and how does it control voters? How is it related to party driven political system? How does Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network (VDN) solve the problems created by the Oppressed Voter Mindset and party driven political system?

The Oppressed Voter Mindset is the divide and conquer belief system, philosophy, and ideology of the party driven political system. It is the often unacknowledged and semi-covert messaging the party driven political system uses to maintain power. As defined in the Voter Directed Democracy book, the Oppressed Voter Mindset can also be seen and understood as the thought patterns and discourse some voters are trapped in as result of their oppression and existence within Flawed Democracies and other less-democratic political structures. The vast majority of oppressed, disempowered voters believe in and deeply desire real democracy where the objectively determined Will of the People is always implemented but accept, support, and even participate in undemocratic activities because they have been oppressed and socialized to believe that party driven Flawed Democracy is the only way for a democratic republic to function.

In other words, for party driven democratic republics to exist and political parties to remain in power they must mentally, emotionally, and spiritually divide and conquer voters. The party driven belief system is 100% dependent on and thrives on voters fighting, blaming, and at the most extreme levels hating other systemically disempowered voters, elected officials, and political parties.

The existence of party driven democratic republics and the success of the OVM are also extremely dependent on voters who never question the system itself. This is how any negative and oppressive belief system tends to maintain power. The party driven belief system needs voters to be focused on individual voters, elected officials, and parties and not question the belief system above these individual humans and institutions that holds the true political power. To break free of the Oppressed Voter Mindset and the party driven belief system a voter must focus on the SYSTEM behind the individual voters, elected officials, and parties. You cannot understand the true mechanics of political power until you examine and understand the belief system, ideologies, and philosophies that have the real power and are controlling the individual voters, elected officials, and parties.

There are layers to the Oppressed Voter Mindset and the party driven belief system.

Layer 1 of the OVM: Blaming Other Individual Voters

At the bottom, the most mentally oppressed voters are those that blame other individual voters or groups of voters for our systemic social, political, and economic problems. These voters are heavily manipulated and misinformed by party driven ideology. The party driven system has oppressed them entirely. Despite what our US and State constitutions mandate, individual voters have almost no political power in today’s broken, flawed, immensely corrupt, violent, divisive, negative, and increasingly authoritarian party driven democratic republics.

To break free of this layer of the OVM voters just have to understand the basic mechanics of the political system. The only time voters actually have real political power is when they cast their ballots and are able to directly vote Yes or No to specific questions, usually about one or two local issues via ballot referendums. That is real political power. That is the power that Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network wants to give to all voters at all levels of government for every single issue. VDN was specifically created to mirror this existing voter-centric and voter empowering part of the current system where voters have the ability to vote on a very limited number of local issues. This is why the philosophical backbone of Voter Directed Democracy is “One Citizen, One Voter on All Matters of Importance.”

In the current party driven system, voters can also vote for elected officials. But the field of elected officials voters can choose to empower is heavily controlled by the dominant political parties and the vast majority of candidates are deeply aligned with and represent the will of their broken, flawed, corrupt, and increasingly authoritarian political institution- their political party. Voters of course can also protest, write emails, call their elected officials, and do other things in an attempt to influence political decisions and actions. However, very few acts of protest and voter influence are successful. Sadly, the vast majority of protests and actions voters take to influence the Public Agenda and their elected officials are ignored at the Federal and state levels. Thus voters have very, very little real political power in party driven democratic republics. By examining these political dynamics, it is very clear that other disempowered and oppressed voters are not the real problem and do not create and perpetuate our many systemic social, political, and economic problems. To break free of the OVM at this level you must stop blaming other voters for our numerous systemic social, political, and economic problems. Other disempowered voters have very, very little political power. Focus on the systems above individual voters.

Layer 2 of the OVM: Blaming Individual Elected Officials

The second most mentally oppressed voters are those that blame individual elected officials for our many systemic social, economic, and political problems. Yes, individual elected officials do have a small amount of power but the vast majority of elected officials do not act as individuals. They act in response to and follow the direction of the broken, flawed, immensely corrupt, and increasingly authoritarian political institution- their respective political party. On the General Election ballots, Democratic and Republican candidates for public official don’t even run as individuals. In the vast majority of Federal and state elections, candidates are literally elected first to represent their party as their party’s nominee for the public office via a primary election. These candidates are obviously not independent from the broken, flawed, and corrupt party driven system nor are they even elected to represent voters. (In other words, Trump, Biden, Obama, Bush etc. NEVER ran for president in any November election as individuals. Their names were on the ballot but they were only there as their party’s nominee for the office of POTUS and acted accordingly once elected. In the current broken and deeply flawed system, individual elected Presidents and other elected officials act as representatives of their party- not their voters.)

Furthermore, the vast majority of elected legislators at the state and Federal level vote in lock step with their corrupt political institution. In other words, the vast, vast majority of Team Blue and Team Red elected officials act and vote with their team rather than learning and implementing the Will of the People. Legislators also rarely read the entire bill they are voting on. Instead they spend a huge amount of time being financially corrupted by oligarchs, corporatists, and other authoritarian individuals and organizations to get money for their political party and re-election campaigns. This is where we are. Yes, it is that bad. Yes, this is why things have gotten worse the past few decades for the average American voter.

There are other ways of clearly seeing that the political party above the individual elected officials holds the real political power. Presidential “administrations” are one of the most accessible examples of this dynamic. Our Presidents are not writing the vast majority of their executive orders or their declarations or memoranda. They are part of discussions but very, very clearly there is a whole system operating above every President and party driven elected official. Most voters see through the political circus and theatre and know that there is a party driven system above the individual elected officials wielding the real political power. AND YET, a gigantic amount of the political discourse in the media and between voters remains focused on individual elected officials. Don’t do that! Don’t give in to the oppressed voter mindset. Stay focused on the systems! Systems do not change unless we are focused on changing systems. We rotate elected officials all the time and the worst human atrocities endured by voters and our children are perpetuated generation after generation. Changing the party driven individuals in power will continue to do very little to solve our numerous social, political, and economic problems unless we EVOLVE the political system they exist within.

The belief system of party driven politics also doesn’t want you asking questions about the systems. This is why political parties cycle individual elected officials every year. They want you fixated and focused on blaming individuals for the problems. If they can’t manipulate you into blaming other similarly oppressed and disempowered individual voters for our systemic social, political, and economic problems the party driven system wants you focused on and blaming individual elected officials. Team Red and Team Blue elected officials love calling each other out and creating distractions and tension. Elected officials pointing at and blaming each other for systemic problems while also getting their party-driven, oppressed voters to do the same doesn’t leave any fingers pointed at the real problem- the divisive, negative, corrupt, and broken belief system of party driven politics.

Frustratingly, elected officials are not the real problem. Yes, individual elected officials do have a small amount of political power and could do their constitutional duty of relentlessly learning and implementing the Will of the People. But they don’t. The vast majority of party driven elected officials don’t act as individuals. Yes, of course they should all be held accountable for their actions; praised when they implement the Will of the People and criticized and punished as individuals when they ignore their voters or break the law. There is a time and a place to address elected officials as individuals. But Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network is NOT focused on any individual voter or individual elected official in any way. The political evolution of Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network is myopically focused on the evolution and modernization of systems and moving beyond the immensely broken, flawed, divisive, corrupt, and violent belief system of party driven politics. The belief system of party driven politics is the system above and more powerful than individual voters, elected officials, and political parties and holds real political power.

Lastly, another way you can break yourself and others out of this layer of the OVM is to play it forward. A quick thought experiment. You find yourself getting angry and blaming “Elected Official Z” for our many social, political, and economic problems. Imagine then that you get exactly what you want. Imagine that the next day Elected Official Z resigns- be it a President, Senator, Governor whatever individual you are blaming- resigns. Now ask yourself- how much changes?? Some small things will shift. But their resignation won’t solve any systemic issue. Not a single one. All of the human atrocities and suffering that voters and our children endure in this country because of our many systemic social, political, and economic problems will still go unsolved. This is because the individual party driven elected officials don’t wield real political power. Changing or blaming an individual elected official will never change a system. There are systems above them.

Again, voters try electing and cycling in new elected officials all the time. And yet, the dominant and compassionate Will of the People that opposes our many systemic social, political, and economic problems and the human suffering and atrocities these problems create never gets implemented. Empowering new or different elected officials into the broken, flawed, immensely corrupt, divisive, violent, and increasingly authoritarian system of party driven politics has never solved our greatest social, political, and economic problems. It’s an act of insanity to believe that empowering the other political party and their elected officials to operate within a broken, flawed, and corrupt party driven system will now, suddenly work as intended. Been there. Tried that. It hasn’t worked for decades. It is time for something new. Something evolved, modern, honest, transparent, and like everything else today- ONLINE. It’s time for Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network.

Layer 3 of the OVM: Blaming Individual Political Parties

These are the least mentally oppressed voters but they are still being oppressed, divided, and conquered by the party driven belief system. Again, most voters when given a chance to let go of their fear based, party driven manipulation and think openly, will see through the individual elected officials. Most voters blame individual political parties for the many social, political, and economic problems that are causing so much suffering for voters and children in this country. They are not wrong because these flawed, broken, and immensely corrupt institutions- known as political parties- do hold real, visible political power but there is another layer/level/system many voters don’t see. And the media, overall, almost never talks about the belief system above and more powerful than individual political parties. Intentionally, the media almost never actually questions the purpose, existence, and utility of political parties. We are so oppressed that most voters and media perpetually passively accept the broken, flawed, immensely corrupt, and increasingly authoritarian party driven political system as the only way to actualize and operationalize the democratic republic created by our US Constitution. But now there is a better, evolved, and modern way to operate our constitutional democratic republic- Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network.

In other words, voters and the media that correctly blame individual political parties for our systemic problems are not wrong because political parties do wield an enormous amount of political power. Political parties could act differently. They could do as the US constitution mandates and relentlessly work every day to learn and implement the Will of the People. But they don’t. They don’t because they benefit IMMENSELY from the continued suffering, oppression, manipulation, and division of voters. Political parties act as they do because it makes them extremely wealthy and powerful. They won’t give up this power and wealth willingly and they wield it to their own benefit immensely well.

To break free of this layer of the OVM where the most informed voters are trapped and the majority of the media is trapped you must ask yourself… What is above and beyond individual political parties? What is more powerful than any legislative bill, executive order, or judicial decision at any level? What is more powerful than the Democratic Party and Republican Party combined? The party driven belief system..

Layer 4 of the OVM: The Party Driven Belief System

This is the final layer. This is the final boss. This is the belief system that Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network is helping people become aware of and evolve beyond. This is where all of the political power of our current broken, flawed, and immensely corrupt political system begins. To put it as concisely as possible: the real political power in our current political system begins in an often sub-conscious, unquestioned ideology, assumption, and belief system that “political parties are required for our democratic republics to operate.” It’s a simple but incredibly powerful belief system. From this false assumption and belief political parties have siphoned all political power from voters and operate as they please. They operate as corrupt, anti-democratic, divisive, violent, and authoritarian institutions of political power that are designed to create and preserve wealth and power for themselves and their biggest donors.

But if voters want something better for ourselves and our children…If we want to pivot away from the broken, flawed, divisive, violent, immensely corrupt, and increasingly authoritarian party driven democratic republics… what is a republic-based democratic political system that is better? What republic-based democratic political system is online, modern, evolved, honest, transparent, collaborative, and cooperative? Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network.

In other words, Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network is getting everyone to ask… do we need political parties? Are they required by the US Constitution? Are they useful? Are they even good at fulfilling their mandate of relentlessly learning and implementing the Will of the People for every single issue as our constitutions demand? No, no, no, and NO. The party driven political system is broken, flawed, immensely corrupt, and increasingly authoritarian. We do not need political parties for anything. We don’t need party driven anything. The clear, compassionate., caring, kind, inclusive and obvious Will of the People has gone unimplemented decade after decade. The many systemic social, political, and economic problems that create human atrocities exist in our country because of our party driven political system and the conditions it creates for voters and our children to suffer under. We must modernize and evolve our political system if we are ever going to make better political decisions and actually solve our many systemic social, political, and economic problems with better government systems that actually represent the Will of the People..

To break free of this final layer of the OVM and the party driven belief system, you must ask yourself the correct system-focused questions. You can begin with any of the above questions listed in this section or ask yourself the questions listed at the beginning of the introduction of the Voter Directed Democracy book:

“I kindly ask that you take a moment to envision what you believe would be an ideal, modern democracy. In other words, given modern societies’ ubiquitous and near constant access to incredible computing power and technology, how do you believe a modern democracy should function? How do you believe voters in a modern democratic republic should come together to determine the Will of the People? How should elected officials behave once the Will of the People is determined in a modern democracy?” Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network is our answer to these questions.
