Questions on Individuals

Introduction:

I wanted to write this essay to fully explain our reasoning and logic related to answering questions about individual voters when we are representatives of Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network. This logic applies to any questions about any individual voter in any context- in interviews, at speaking events, on live-casts, on the radio, on television, on a podcast, in a comments section or wherever we are speaking, discussing, or writing about Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network.

When we get these questions about individual voters we might not have the time or the ability to fully explain our reasoning and logic. Things might be happening quickly. The conversation might be cut off. Someone might pivot us away from fully clarifying and laying everything out. Or we might simply not have the best capacity in that moment to be as clear, precise, and comprehensive in our explanations. So in this essay we will be as clear, precise, and comprehensive as we can in our explanation of why it is not a good idea to answer questions about individual voters when we are in our public role as a representative of Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network.

Essay:

As representatives of Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network it does not make any sense to answer any questions about any individual voter or elected official. It does not make sense to answer any of these questions because answering these questions will shift the context and focus of the conversation entirely and could be alienating to other voters and elected officials. (Side note: I just differentiated between voters and elected officials because this is how most people see our government at this time. But “voters” is actually an all-inclusive word. This is because all elected officials are also voters. A US Senator, for example, is just a voter for their school district, county, and state. So when I say “voters” I am referring to all voters, some of which are also elected officials for certain constituencies.)

Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network is entirely, myopically focused on systemic political change. We are focused on the systemic political evolution of our democratic republics. We are working to evolve our democratic republics into systems that are less corrupt in which we openly and transparently determine the Will of the People via an online platform that is specifically designed for voter discussion, voter collaboration, and daily voting. Improving democracy by evolving our democratic republics is our main focus.

However, if we answer questions about individual voters we shift the framework and context of the conversation entirely. Suddenly we are no longer talking about systems. Instead, we are talking about individuals. Suddenly we are no longer talking about how to evolve our political systems and the conversation that is now happening is about one individual commenting about another individual. Conversations about individuals are antithetical to conversations about changing systems.

As representatives of Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network we must stay focused on our mission to modernize and evolve systems and not get distracted when are asked questions about individuals. In fact, the entire Voter Directed Democracy book and philosophy is written as a comprehensive exploration and criticism of our current broken and corrupt party driven political system and does not call out a single individual or even a specific political party! The book discusses at length the corruption and flaws of our current party driven democratic republics and provides detailed, inspiring, voter-empowering, and voter directed solutions to the identified systemic flaws and corruption without mentioning the failures or corruption of any individual elected official or individual political party. It is very possible to talk about political philosophy and our political system without talking about any individual voter, elected official, or party. We simply don’t get any closer to fixing or improving our political system when we shift our focus from the systemic problems to individual voters or elected officials.

This is also true for any conversation about any type of human system. If we want to improve our education system, we cannot focus on the success or failures of any individual student, teacher, or administrator. If we want to improve our systemic access to our healthcare system, we cannot focus on the success or failure of any individual practitioner or institution. Importantly, outside of conversations about how to change or improve systems we of course can, should, and sometimes need to have conversations about the success or failures of individuals.

Generally, all individuals that do well should be praised and rewarded and all individuals that do bad should be criticized or punished. This is obvious. This makes sense. But our focus when discussing political philosophy and as representatives of Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network must remain on the systemic modernization and evolution of our political system. There is always a system that is operating behind any individual. Changing or removing any individual elected official does not evolve the system operating behind them. To systemically evolve our government we must stay focused on collectively evolving away from the broken, corrupt, and increasingly authoritarian belief system of party driven politics.

Secondly, answering questions as representatives of Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network about any individual elected official or voter could be very alienating. Our goal, however, is to get every voter to join Voter Directed Network. Every single one. ALL voters are ALWAYS welcome. All voters are perpetually and eternally welcome on Voter Directed Network. In other words, the invitation to modernize and evolve our democratic republics from flawed, broken, and corrupt party driven systems into new, honest, intuitive, logical, transparent, collaborative, cooperative, and modern Voter Directed democratic republics never expires for any legal voter. Evolving and modernizing in this way is now available 24/7/365 to ALL voters.

Getting all voters onto VDN is the ultimate goal and we will get there eventually. The ultimate goal as we described in the book for any country is 300% implementation of Voter Directed Democracy. Where Voter Directed Democracy is implemented 100% at the federal level, 100% at the state level, and 100% at the local level for all democratic republics. This will be true evolution. Real transformation. To do this we must work hard to not alienate any individual voter or elected official and create an opportunity for real systemic change.

We must create an environment where all individual voters and elected officials can openly and freely choose to pivot away from flawed, broken, and corrupt party driven democracy and help us modernize and evolve our political systems into honest and transparent Voter Directed democratic republics at all levels of government. We cannot create this evolutionary environment if we, as representatives of Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network, intentionally alienate anyone.

Let’s break this down more specifically. Let’s take the example of a voter who is also an elected official. When speaking about any individual elected official, we can say many things but generally the comments will fall into two categories- we can praise or criticize. If a representative of Voter Directed Democracy praises the elected official, those voters who disagree with or hold different opinions than this elected official may then not be open to exploring, researching, and opening their minds to the idea of Voter Directed Democracy. As representatives of Voter Directed Democracy we have just alienated those voters. In other words, we have just associated Voter Directed Democracy with something negative for those voters who disagree with the elected official we just praised.

Also, if we, as representatives of Voter Directed Democracy would criticize an elected official a similar dynamic would arise. Voters who support the elected officials we just criticized would not be open to exploring, researching and opening their minds to the idea of Voter Directed Democracy. Nor would the elected official be open to evolving and becoming a Voter Directed Elected Official. As representatives of Voter Directed Democracy we have just alienated those voters and that elected official. In other words, we have just associated Voter Directed Democracy with something negative for those voters who agree with the elected official we just criticized.

In other words, for Voter Directed Democracy to be successful political unity is very important. To help voters unify behind this new idea Voter Directed Democracy must remain radically inclusive. We must create a radically inclusive environment where no voter or currently empowered elected official feels alienated.

What we will say to all individuals- all individual voters and elected officials- is that we all have an absolutely amazing opportunity in front of us. From the moment we fully launched Voter Directed Network all voters have had an incredible opportunity to help us modernize and evolve our democratic republics.

This is the perpetual opportunity and invitation to all voters:

You can do nothing and maintain the status quo of broken, flawed, and corrupt party driven democracy and democratic republics.

OR

You can choose something better. Choose something evolutionary. Choose something honest, transparent, logical, and intuitive. Choose modern Voter Directed democratic republics at all levels of government by joining Voter Directed Network.

Again, this invitation is perpetually extended to all voters. We believe in RVI. Radical voter inclusivity, which means ALL voters are always welcome to join VDN. Everyone has an important role to play in the evolution of our democratic republics.

Thus, to summarize, since our goal for Voter Directed Democracy is the systemic evolution of our democratic republics at all levels of government and we are working to get all voters and currently empowered elected officials to join Voter Directed Network, it does not make sense for us, as representatives of Voter Directed Democracy, to comment on the actions or words of any individual voter or elected official because doing such shifts the context and focus of the conversation we are trying to have and would be alienating to some voters and elected officials.

Instead, we must stay focused on the flawed, corrupt, and authoritarian systems operating behind individuals and work to evolve and modernize our democratic republics at all levels of governments. We must stay focused on the absolutely amazing opportunity every voter and currently empowered elected official has to help us implement Voter Directed Democracy on Voter Directed Network. We must stay focused on the unity, transparency, and accountability this political evolution will bring to our political system.

We must stay focused on pivoting away from a broken and flawed party driven system that is built and maintained by divisiveness, greed, and corruption. And we must stay focused on working together as we collectively pursue a better and brighter political future for all voters at all levels of government.

Thank you.
