Voter Directed Network vs Social Media
When someone first signs up for Voter Directed Network, it can feel familiar—there’s a profile, there’s a place to post, there are reactions, comments, templates to fill out. On the surface, it may look a little like social media.
But the comparisons end almost immediately.
Because Voter Directed Network was built to openly and transparently determine the will of the people at all levels of government on every single issue.
That’s as concise as I can make it. That’s the entire point.
And unlike social media, Voter Directed Network is not an outrage machine.
It is not funded by outrage.
It is not fueled by anger.
It does not make a penny from dividing human beings into echo chambers.
It does not need your attention, your addiction, or your anxiety.
Its only “business model,” if you even want to call it that, is:
empower voters, clarify issues, and evolve our democratic republic with limitless Voter Discussion, endless Voter Collaboration, and impactful Daily Voting.
Furthermore, part of designing Voter Directed Network was making it efficient. Really efficient.
I’ve always liked the idea of a seven-day open window for statement discussion and voting. Most people live week to week. Their schedules have rhythms. Giving voters a full week lets them check in every Monday, or every Thursday, or whatever works for them.
You give your hours—your civic hours—to your democratic republic.
You vote. You read. You post statements when you feel compelled.
And you do it on your schedule. This is your new civic duty.
This creates something we desperately need:
a political system that respects your time, your energy, and, most importantly, your vote.
And here’s what’s also going to transform:
Bills, executive orders, and other political documents are going to become legible. Shorter. Understandable. Honest.
Because it is an absolute travesty—an embarrassment—how little of our legislation is actually read by the people voting on it and pretending to represent voters. What percentage of these massive bills do elected officials even read before signing? Everyone knows the answer: not enough. Not even close.
In a Voter Directed Democracy, that party driven dynamic ends.
VDN is also a Tool for Actual Collaboration, Not Manufactured Conflict
This is the real difference between VDN and social media.
Voter Directed Network brings everyone together.
Every voter. Every issue. Every level of government.
All at once, in the same place, every day.
That level of connection—across constituencies, across regions, across philosophical lines—is evolutionary. It’s transformational. It’s never existed before in human political history.
And what protects VDN from becoming another outrage-driven mess are the features. You give humans the right tools and humanity has always done extraordinary things. This is how we have always evolved as a species. This is how we have always evolved any system- communication, transportation, education, entertainment, medicine, banking, commerce and every other system has been evolved in this same way throughout human history. We evolve the human condition and our reality by making and using the right tools. The political tools on VDN were specifically created for Voter Discussion, Voter Collaboration, and Daily Voting, and include:
The Agree/Disagree scale, from –10 to +10 for all comments and replies in the discussion section. Not a simple upvote or downvote. Not choosing between limited emotional reactions. A clear Agree/Disagree scale for all discussion.
The separated but entirely transparent virtual rooms for every constituency. You can see all statements, discussion, and votes from all constituencies. But you can only post, comment, and vote where you are a Verified Voter.
The statement template that forces clarity, precision, and honesty.
The four types of voting questions -Yes/No, Agree/Disagree, Multiple Choice, and Ranked Choice-each one designed for the different kinds of issues we have, discussion we need t, and political decisions must make collectively.
These tools don’t amplify anger.
They amplify clarity.
They amplify solutions.
They amplify cooperation.
You give human beings the right tools—
and we evolve. We build. We advance. We rise.
This is an Evolution Beyond the Social Sphere
I’m grateful for the good parts of social media—the fun, the humor, the creativity, the human connection. I appreciate the beautiful, honest content that people put into that world. Food content. Happy Dogs. Laughing babies. Science. Spirituality. Philosophy. Sports. All types of art, theatre, comedy, and music. I’ve enjoyed a lot. I love so much about humanity and I love how that has been reflected on social media.
And sometimes, yes, it feels like Voter Directed Network is an evolution of social media: keeping the good, removing the bad, and building something purposeful.
But I also know it’s not exactly that.
Social media is built for entertainment, connection, distraction, socialization.
Voter Directed Network is built for democracy.
For evolved democratic republican government.
For real-world outcomes.
That’s why I don’t see it as a direct evolution of social media.
The online political evolution is its own thing—something brand new in human society.
But similar to the other parts of society we have already evolved and brought online, there will be an era of humanity BEFORE and an era of humanity AFTER the online political evolution. There was an era of humanity before Video Calls, Streaming, Ride Share, Email, online banking, online shopping, and social media…and look at us now. Voters right now are suffering through the last few years of oppression and authoritarian dynamics of the Party Driven era of Flawed Democracy. And oh how our political systems will improve, advance, and evolve during the coming Voter Directed era of Online Democratic Republics. It’s going to be amazing.
I will also say this:
Once people experience Voter Directed Network, once they see how meaningful it is, how much it matters, how much it can do, how much it actually changes things—many will give up a big part of their social media time.
Because this isn’t about likes.
This isn’t about attention.
This isn’t about outrage.
This is about shaping the future.
This is about solving real problems.
This is about the real Will of the People—finally, openly, transparently— sourced and implemented.
Thus, VDN does share some similarities with social media but they were created for entirely different purposes.
